The is a continuation of this pervious session:
Our heroes:
- Pesu Lappu, an androgyne half elf sorcerer with a deadpan voice.
- Blue the very average male Human Cleric joined his order to dodge the draft and remained ever since.
- Ali the female Elf Rogue.
- Azalea the snarky, ungovernable, bratty female Halfling Rogue who ran away from home at the age of 21.
- Lulu, the 70 year old female human fighter.
- And a major NPC, Baskerville, who organized the mission. An irish-ish old man with magic powers.
We left off leaving the Troll City and headed east toward the Hag Marsh. We can go by land, or better yet we can head north to a river-side town and take a boat in. We head north, and reach a fork in the road. There’s a forested path (can’t remember the type) and we can just go overland out in the open. We debate a faster road through the open to get to town faster, but if the Trolls found out we robbed them, then they could find us easier. So we take the forest, and get mugged by some bedraggled looking bandits.
Abi the Elf juggles her daggers menacingly. Bandits are a little concerned.
Pesu Lappu raises her hands in a calming gesture and slowly approaches the bandits saying “whoa, whoa”, hoping to splash them with acid.
Azalea the Halfing dives into the bushes right away. Lead bandit is confused. Azalea opens fire, bandit goes down but is still alive. The rest of the bandits are demoralized and fall back. Lulu the fighter goes up and kicks the bandit, demands to know where his base is. He insists he doesn’t have a base, so Lulu pours a flask of oil on him and asks her companions for a tinder twig.
The cleric Blue plays good cop and tells the man he’ll protect him from Lulu if he talks. Bandit explains he’s just desperate. They have only ten men in their band. So Blue gives him some coins, and then says “here, pay your friends. And then here’s more for yourself, and you ensure they don’t attack us as we pass through this forest.”
The bandit gets his wounded ass up and runs back to his friends, the rest run, except one, who peeks at us from behind a tree. He wants a job. Blue hires him.
We pass the rest of the way through the forest unmolested.
We get to the town and try to hire a boat. There’s a human raft captain with two halfling oarsmen. We negotiate to get to the hang marsh. Everyone gets aboard and we set off down the river Pontapoosett. We’re attacked by a 300 pound catfish that causes the raft to tip. Abi goes in. Lulu throws her a rope. Meanwhile the brat Azalea tries to push one of the halflings in the river, trips, and goes tumbling in. She can swim, thankfully.
Now the party fires arrows repeatedly at the fish. Azalea pushes one of the halflings in the river during the commotion. The captain is excited to have a huge fish. But where is his helper?
The halfling is half drowned. A rope is thrown, and Pesu Lappu uses Mage Hand to dunk the halfling back down to choke on water as they drag him in. Poor fellow can’t remember what happened to him.
Eventually we get to the Hag Marsh and debark. Blue leaves his new servant to keep an eye on the crew so they don’t row back upstream and leave the party stranded.
There’s boardwalks and massive sundew plants that could entangle a human sized creature. Two Troglodytes come running along. Both rogues jump on their backs and try to ride them. The surprised Trogs release a terrible stench and only Lulu and Baskerville pass the save. There’s a tussle, both rogues vomit from the stench and get tossed off.
Pesu Lappu uses Shocking Grasp and nearly kills one. It convulses on the boardwalk. The other is more nimble. Lulu tries to push one over the railing into the mire but the creature is extremely nimble. Blue takes a swing with his mace but the slippery creature dodges again. The active Trog bites Pesu Lappu. Eventually Baskerville gets frustrated or bored, I cannot remember, and tosses a fireball. We pass our saves for being in proximity but the poor Trog goes down, now barely alive.
Lulu decapitates one and the other the party intendeds to train and enslave the survivor. Pesu Lappu takes a sample of the sticky sundew to use as a glue.
We left off there until next time.
